Les lieux culturels français et étrangers entrent-ils dans le nouveau monde de Google+ ?

7 mois après son lancement, Google+ vient de franchir le cap des 100 millions de membres. Un chiffre apparemment élevé mais qui ne représente que 4,7% des internautes de la planète contre 40% de ces derniers qui sont déjà membres de facebook, soit 840 millions d’internautes.

Si les grandes marques comme Coca Cola, Gap ou Mc Donald se sont vite installées dans ce nouveau monde, ce n’est pas vraiment le cas des musées et lieux culturels. 21 musées et lieux culturels français ont créé une page Google+ contre plus de 250 sur facebook. L’enthousiasme modéré s’observe également dans le Monde.

20 lieux culturels français et une plateforme intermusées ont choisi de rejoindre le réseau social Google+.

Google+ dans les institutions muséales et culturelles mondiales

Google+ n’a pas encore séduit les musées et lieux culturels du Monde. Sur les 20ères institutions muséales par le nombre de fan sur facebook, seules 6 ont créé leur page Google+. Sur les 5ères, seul le Louvre y est présent contrairement au MoMA The Museum of Modern Art, au Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, à la tate anglaise, au Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Des musées pourtant très actifs sur les réseaux sociaux.

Pourquoi une telle prudence des lieux culturels ?

Plusieurs raisons peuvent expliquer l’engouement modéré des lieux culturels pour le réseau Google+:

. sa pénétration encore faible parmi les internautes

. la moindre stabilité technique de la plateforme

. le risque d’éparpillement des actions sur les multiples réseaux sociaux

. des fonctionnalités plus limitées ou moins adaptées que facebook et twitter

. la relation compliquée entre le monde la culture et Google.

Les plus de Google+

Google+ dispose pourtant de certains atouts par rapport à facebook.

. un meilleur réferencement par sa proximité avec le moteur de recherche

. une fonction vidéo conférence à fort potentiel

Par ailleurs, deux raisons peuvent inciter les lieux culturels à entrer sur le réseau Google+: la protection de leur marque (Google ne contrôle pas réellement l’inscription) et il suffit de dupliquer tout ou partie des contenus mis en ligne sur facebook pour faire vivre sa page Google+.
