Initié à  la Cité des sciences et de l’industrie et aux à‰tincelles du Palais de la découverte en 2022, le Printemps de l’esprit critique propose deux semaines d’événements, d’ateliers, de conférences et de formations pour sensibiliser à  l’importance de l’esprit critique et permettre à  chacun de le cultiver, du 21 mars au 3 avril 2024. Pour sa troisième édition, le Printemps devient national en s’ouvrant à  de nombreux acteurs de la culture scientifique et de l’éducation aux médias (centres de culture scientifique, bibliothèques, institutions d’enseignement supérieur et de recherche, acteurs associatifs …). Ces deux semaines sont lancées avec la présentation des résultats de la troisième édition du Baromètre de l’esprit critique, qui analyse le rapport de nos concitoyens à  l’information, à  la science et leur façon de construire leur opinion. Cette année, le sondage inclut un ensemble de questions relatives à  la compréhension de l’intelligence artificielle et de ses applications.

Les 48 participants, répartis sur tout le territoire (dont deux à  l’étranger), présentent  une riche programmation à  destination de tous les publics, du 21 mars au 3 avril 2024.  La plupart d’entre eux ont intégré  des focus sur l’intelligence artificielle,  thématique de l’édition 2024 du Baromètre de l’esprit critique.

Plusieurs membres du CLIC, en région, sont partenaires de l’évènement: l’Atrium, l’espace régional de découverte scientifique et technique, le Radôme – Cité des Télécoms, l’Espace des sciences, le Quai des Savoirs et la Bibliothèque municipale de Bordeaux.

à€  la Cité des sciences et de l’industrie, le public aura accès à  un parcours spécifique avec  cinq médiations inédites autour de l’intelligence artificielle.

A Toulouse, le Quai des Savoirs propose l’exposition « IA : DOUBLE JE » du  jeudi 21 mars 2024  au  dimanche 3 novembre 2024. A cette occasion, le lieu de culture scientifique organise le 21 mars 2024, de 18.30 à  20.30, un événement inédit : le Tribunal de l’IA. L’agora du Quai des Savoirs se transforme en tribunal avec des juges, procureurs, avocats €¦ pour défendre ou pour accuser l’intelligence artificielle.

Le Jeudi 21 mars 2024, Universcience et ses partenaires ont révélé l’édition 2024 du Baromètre de l’esprit critique.  

Chaque année, le Baromètre de l’esprit critique, enquête sur le rapport de nos concitoyens à  la science et aux médias et sur la construction de leur opinion, interroge outre ses thématiques pérennes un sujet d’actualité.

L’édition 2024 du Baromètre, réalisé par OpinionWay pour Universcience,  questionne le rapport de nos concitoyens à  l’IA.

Quels usages  les Françaises et les Français  font-ils aujourd’hui de l’intelligence artificielle et de ses applications ? Quelle confiance leur accordent-ils et comment voient-ils son avenir ? L’intelligence artificielle, plutôt une menace ou une opportunité ?

Quelques résultats de l’étude sur la partie Intelligence Artificielle :

Si 61% des sondés y voient une révolution technologique majeure du niveau de celle de l’imprimerie (plus de 70 €‰% pour les moins de 34 ans), ils sont plus nombreux, respectivement 85 €‰% et 77 €‰%, à  penser nécessaire sa réglementation et à  affirmer qu’elle pose de nouvelles questions éthiques et juridiques.

Concernant les possibilités de ces technologies, 68 €‰% répondent que les applications de l’IA ne peuvent pas prendre de décisions autonomes, 59 €‰% qu’elles ne sont ni créatives ni innovantes (car assemblant des contenus déjà  existants) et seuls 19 €‰% les croient parfaitement fiables (une large majorité €“ 69 €‰% €“ affirmant le contraire). Quant à  savoir si elles sont « €‰plus neutres que les humains €‰ », le panel est plus divisé €‰: 42 €‰% répondent par l’affi rmative, 38 €‰% le contraire et une proportion importante (20 €‰%) ne se prononce pas.

Le Baromètre 2024 sonde également ses répondants sur les IA génératives (type ChatGPT ou Midjourney).

65 €‰% du panel en ont déjà  entendu parler, mais seulement 23 €‰% en ont déjà  utilisé, 34 €‰% ne sachant pas de quoi il s’agit. On note également un clivage de genre, de catégorie socio- professionnelle et d’ ge, le taux de connaissance étant inversement proportionnel à  l’ ge (la proportion d’usage est quant à  elle signifi cativement plus importante chez les moins de 24 ans €“ 46 €‰%), tandis que les hommes (70 €‰%) et les CSP+ (77 €‰%) sont plus nombreux à  avoir entendu parler de ces technologies et à  les utiliser. Parmi les utilisateurs des applications de l’IA générative, c’est l’usage informationnel (68 €‰%) qui prédomine, suivi de la traduction (61 €‰%) et de la rédaction de texte (59 €‰%). Et si 87 €‰% des usagers sont impressionnés par la vitesse (87 €‰%) et la qualité (74 €‰%) des productions de ces IA, une proportion à  peu près équivalente d’enquêtés (8 sur 10) déclare s’interroger sur leur fiabilité (78 €‰%) et comparer les résultats obtenus avec ceux d’autres sources (80 €‰%).  Cet usage de l’esprit critique à  l’égard des productions de l’IA connaà®t toutefois quelques variations €‰: il s’exprime plus nett ement chez les hommes que chez les femmes. Par ailleurs, la pratique du croisement des résultats obtenus à  partir de plusieurs sources d’informations augmente régulièrement avec l’ ge €‰: 74 €‰% chez les 18-24, 94 €‰% chez les 65 et plus.
