Deuxième édition de la VIP Art Fair, la foire d’art en ligne

Pour sa seconde édition, la VIP Art Fair espère faire mieux que l’an passé. Cette foire d’art contemporain en ligne avait en effet payé en 2011 la rançon du buzz en voyant son site très rapidement saturé par ses 41.000 visiteurs, mais aussi à cause des collectionneurs relativement désorientés par cette nouvelle forme de commerce d’art virtuel. L’appréciation générale fut celle d’un semi-échec.

Mais rebelote, la VIP Art Fair 2.0 a ouvert ce matin sur le site www.vipartfair.com. Les chiffres évoquent ceux d’une foire de taille moyenne : 135 participants (parmi lesquels des galeries mastodontes comme David Zwirner, Xavier Hufkens, Marian Goodman, Galleria Continua…) réunis pendant six jours (du 3 au 8 février), 1500 œuvres, 1100 artistes. Mais concrètement, comment acheter des œuvres que l’on ne peut voir en vrai ? Gr ce à des images haute définition, à des zooms sur les œuvres, à la mise à l’échelle des objets et à toute une série d’infos. On peut même voir des performances live (comme celle de Terence Koh, sur le stand de la galerie Thaddaeus Ropac), et la section Editions & Multiples est particulièrement intéressante (ainsi une impression de Richard Wenworth se vend environ 180 euros).

L’avantage : on évite de se déplacer, et l’accès est gratuit pour les visiteurs. Il vous en coà»tera 50 dollars (environ 38 euros), si vous souhaitez être mis en relation avec un galeriste pour acheter effectivement une œuvre. D’autres foires en ligne, plus spécialisées, sont en train de se mettre en place. Une forme d’e-commerce qui a encore du mal à convaincre de nombreux sceptiques, mais qui devrait prendre de l’ampleur dans les prochaines années.
