La New York Public Library invente les Insta Novels, la littérature classique au format des stories Instagram

Depuis aoà»t 2018, la New York Public Library propose ses « Insta Novels », un nouveau concept qui réinvente la story Instagram, en proposant un nouveau support de diffusion et de promotion de la littérature.

Insta Novels a été lancé le 22 aoà»t 2018 sur le compte Instagram de la New York Public Library ( @nypl ) avec la première partie d’une version nouvellement numérisée de Alice au Pays des merveilles de Lewis Carroll. Le roman est illustré par le célèbre designer Magoz ( @magoz ).

Dans les mois à venir, deux autres œuvres littéraires seront ainsi publiées sur le compte Instagram de la bibliothèque: La Séquestrée, une nouvelle de Charlotte Perkins Gilman illustrée par Buck ( @buck_design ) et La Métamorphose, la nouvelle de Franz Kafka illustrée par César Pelizer ( @cesarpelizer ).

La New York Public Library s’est associée à l’agence indépendante de publicité et de création Mother in New York pour créer Insta Novels.

Ce programme vise à rendre les œuvres majeures de la littérature plus accessibles à un public plus large.

Comment ça marche ?

IL faut d’abord aller sur le compte Instagram de la bibliothèque ( @nypl ) et appuyer sur la partie 1 de Alice au pays des merveilles dans les Stories à la une, juste sous la biographie.

En laissant son pouce appuyé sur la partie inférieure droite de l’écran, le lecteur maintient la page. En levant son pouce, la page se tourne.

(Le porte-pouce en bas à droite est également conçu comme un flipbook : en levant le pouce et en laissant les pages tourner, une animation apparait.)

Le compte Instagram de NYPL va donc ainsi se transformer peu à peu en une véritable bibliothèque numérique à mesure que d’autres histoires seront ajoutées.

Des livres également disponibles sur SimplyE, l’application de la New York Public Library

Les trois livres qui deviendront bientôt des Insta Novels sont déjà disponibles sur SimplyE, l’application gratuite de lecture électronique de la New York Public Library, disponible sur l’App Store ou sur Google Play.

Tout le monde peut dès lors parcourir les œuvres classiques, y compris Alice au pays des merveilles, La Séquestrée et La Métamorphose, disponibles dans le catalogue de l’application.

Les détenteurs d’une carte de bibliothèque de la New York Public Library peuvent également accéder à plus de 300 000 e-books, des best-sellers aux romans classiques en se connectant à la NYPL via l’application.

D’autres façons de lire les histoires

Il existe de nombreuses façons de lire ou d’écouter Alice au pays des merveilles, La Séquestrée et La Métamorphose. Tout le monde peut accéder au texte intégral de ces histoire sur le site Web de Project Gutenberg . Les détenteurs de cartes de la NYPL peuvent consulter les livres et livres audio via le catalogue NYPL. Ils peuvent également trouver les livres en parcourant le catalogue en ligne de NYPL’s Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library.
