Le 18 mars 2020, à l’occasion du lancement de la première foire numérique Art Basel, Online Viewing Rooms, David Zwirner a annoncer le lancement de On Painting: Art Basel Online, sa première exposition exclusivement en ligne, présentée simultanément sur la Online Viewing Room d’Art Basel et sur la plateforme David Zwirner Online. Les seize œuvres d’artistes sont valorisées à hauteur de 16 millions de dollars.

Cette exposition est accessible sur le site davidzwirner.com du 20 au 25 mars, et sur la plateforme de la foire Art Basel du 18 au 25 mars.

Une exposition numérique multi-artistes

S’inspirant du traité De Pictura de Leon Battista Alberti rédigé en 1435, cette exposition vise à « mettre en lumière les artistes de la galerie dont le travail participe à la redéfinition actuelle de la peinture figurative, tout en explorant les dimensions historiques et conceptuelles liées à ce médium aujourd’hui ».

On Painting: Art Basel Online présente une sélection de seize œuvres d’artistes représentés par David Zwirner qui pour la plupart n’ont encore jamais été encore présentées au public et viennent directement de l’atelier de l’artiste.

La Online Viewing Room présente notamment en avant-première une œuvre inédite de Jeff Koons issue d’une série créée pour l’exposition personnelle de l’artiste à la Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi à Florence à l’automne 2019.

Elle sera présentée aux côtés d’œuvres significatives et inédites de Mamma Andersson, Lucas Arruda, Michaà«l Borremans, Noah Davis, Marlene Dumas, Jeff Koons, Nate Lowman, Kerry James Marshall, Alice Neel, Chris Ofili, Sigmar Polke, Neo Rauch, Josh Smith, Luc Tuymans, Liu Ye et Lisa Yuskavage.

Des oeuvres d’un montant total de plus de 16 millions de USD

On Painting: Art Basel Online est la plus importante présentation en ligne de la galerie David Zwirner à ce jour, également la plus considérable en valeur avec un montant total de plus de 16 millions de USD.

David Zwirner a été la première grande galerie internationale à lancer une Online Viewing Room en 2017 et celle-ci en constitue sa 54ème présentation en ligne.

En juin 2019, à l’occasion d’Art Basel, fut lancée en franchise cette plateforme parallèle de présentation en ligne afin de coà¯ncider avec les temps forts du calendrier mondial des foires d’art. Depuis, la galerie a présenté avec succès des présentations en ligne d’œuvres de premier plan lors de Frieze London et d’Art Basel Miami Beach.

La galerie se réjouit donc de présenter On Painting: Art Basel Online au public d’Art Basel online et aux collectionneurs de David Zwirner à travers le monde.

A propos de la galerie David Zwirner Online

David Zwirner Online est l’espace numérique de la galerie oà¹ les visiteurs peuvent découvrir et collectionner des œuvres d’artistes de la galerie ou issues de collaborations spécifiques. Depuis son lancement en 2017 en tant que première €œviewing room €en ligne d’une galerie privée, David Zwirner Online en est devenu le septième espace. Il se distingue par son approche curatoriale (en prolongement de la programmation globale de la galerie et avec des présentations en rotation constante), la qualité des œuvres mises en ligne (dont beaucoup proviennent directement des ateliers des artistes), la transparence (chaque projet indique les prix et la disponibilité), et l’implication des artistes (artistes et estates représentés par la galerie étant étroitement impliqués dans la conceptualisation des expositions en ligne).
