Les œuvres immersives françaises à  l’export et dans les festivals à  l’international en 2023

Le 40 œuvres immersives françaises ont été   sélectionnées dans  36 festivals étrangers et 22 prix ont été remportés.  

« L’année 2023 est tout simplement la plus forte en termes de chiffre d’affaires recensé depuis le commencement de l’étude en 2017 : 1 257 239 ‚¬ et 229 ventes. De plus, 2 titres comptabilisent plus de 100 000 ‚¬ de recettes chacun, 7 autres plus de 50 000 ‚¬ chacun, tandis que 6 titres totalisent plus de 10 ventes chacun. Avec un nombre de ventes et un nombre d’œuvres en forte augmentation, on note que l’offre française d’œuvres immersives est caractérisée par une croissance constante depuis 2017″ c’est ainsi qu’Unifrance, l’organisme français pour l’exportation du cinéma a résumé le bilan des

Ces indicateurs très positifs sont corrélés au bon développement du secteur XR en France. Les chaà®nes TV financent les œuvres, le CNC  accompagne la filière, les fabricants de matériel étrangers recherchent des contenus variés et les institutions culturelles entrent aussi de plus en plus en coproduction.

  • Forte progression du chiffre d’affaires export global

La multiplication des lieux de diffusion, l’explosion des LBE, l’intérêt toujours croissant des festivals, galeries, musées, etc., et la forte augmentation du nombre d’œuvres à  l’export expliquent la forte croissance du chiffre d’affaires global et signalent la bonne santé structurelle du secteur en 2023.

Dans son bilan annuel, Unifrance souligne également le travail effectué par les trois principaux distributeurs qui structurent le marché immersif français : Astrea,  Lucid Realities  (renommé  Unframed Collection  début 2024 pour son activité de distribution) et  Diversion cinema.

Tout comme le chiffre d’affaires croissant de l’exportation des œuvres XR à  l’international en 2023, la présence des œuvres en festivals n’a fait que progresser d’année en année.

Avec de nombreux festivals de cinéma qui ouvrent des espaces dédiés aux œuvres immersives et des festivals qui leur sont totalement dédiés, ce sont des rendez-vous qui permettent une grande reconnaissance des œuvres, et leur médiatisation.

Certains festivals sont même devenus des lieux incontournables pour l’industrie dans son ensemble, tels que Venise ou SXSW. Des œuvres françaises y sont présentées chaque année, et la durée d’exploitation marque une forte spécificité du secteur : les œuvres produites avant 2020 sont toutes aussi présentes que les nouvelles, et la reconnaissance acquise dans le temps permet une longévité de plus de cinq ans aux plus grands succès.

  • Les grands indicateurs en 2023

. 124 acheteurs, dont le leader est  Sandmand Studios  (Chine).

. L’animation  et le  documentaire  représentent plus de  90  %  de l’export total.

. « Ayahuasca (Kosmik Journey) » (2019, Jan Kounen, Atlas V / Small Studio), première œuvre immersive française par le nombre de ventes.

. L’Asie et  les  Etats-Unis  se confirment comme étant respectivement  la  première  zone géographique et le premier pays selon le chiffre d’affaires.

Depuis 2017, Unifrance analyse la diffusion commerciale des œuvres immersives françaises à  l’international. L’étude annuelle porte exclusivement sur les résultats objectifs des ventes, titre par titre, déclarées par les sociétés de production et de distribution. En 2024, 27 sociétés ont répondu à  notre demande de participation à  cette étude portant sur 2023. Et le choix est fait de consacrer un bilan ad hoc aux œuvres immersives, les séparant des courts-métrages.
