Le programme d’incubation technologique du NEW Museum reçoit un financement de 230 000 euros de la Fondation Knight

Le New Museum de New York vient de recevoir un nouveau financement de 250 000 $ de la Fondation John S. et James L. Knight destiné à son programme d’incubation technologique, NEW INC. Ces fonds aideront le programme à élargir son champ d’action en cherchant à attirer de nouvelles start ups qui imaginent l’impact de la technologie sur l’avenir des musées et de l’art.

Entrant dans sa troisième année, NEW INC est un «incubateur culturel dédié à soutenir l’innovation, la collaboration et l’esprit d’entreprise dans l’art, le design et la technologie ».

Conforté par ces nouveaux financements de 230 000 euros versé par la Fondation Knight, le NEW INC présente un programme de perfectionnement professionnel de 12 mois pour un maximum de dix start ups orientées vers la création de nouveaux outils technologiques qui favorisent la fréquentation et l’expérience dans les musées.

Les coà»ts de participation au programme vont ainsi pouvoir être couverts et la possibilité de 10 000 $ de financement de base sera également disponible dans le cadre du programme.

Dans un communiqué, la directrice de NEW INC, Julia Kaganskiy, a expliqué: « Les musées expérimentent des applications technologiques innovantes pour la participation du public, la présentation des oeuvres et des expos, la préservation, mais nous pensons que le marché est encore peu développé et mal servi, notamment en matière de petites et moyennes entreprises ».

Elle a ajouté: « Avec les fonds supplémentaires, les participants au programme NEW INC vont pouvoir explorer de nouvelles idées pour la conception d’exposition et de nouveaux outils d’implication du public. Ils vont pouvoir concevoir des produits rentables et des services plus efficaces pour répondre à ce besoin. Comme premier incubateur dirigé vers les musées et l’art, le design et la technologie, NEW INC est bien positionné comme terrain d’essai pour cultiver de nouvelles relations entre les entreprises et le musée ».

De nouvelles activités de soutien

NEW INC développera également des programmes de perfectionnement professionnel sur mesure, de coaching et de réseautage pour les participants, y compris un voyage dans trois villes dans lesquelles la Fondation Knight investit pour faciliter la recherche de partenaires, la mise en réseau et la présentation des projets en développement. Ce voyage aidera les professionnels des musées dans ces villes à développer une compréhension de la façon dont la technologie peut être appliquée pour accroà®tre la participation des viisteurs.

Les professionnels des musées des villes Knight, y compris un groupe de 20 curateurs , seront également invités durant la semaine Tech Bootcamp au NEW INC. L’évenement offrira des visites sur place, ainsi que de réunions et des occasions de réseautage avec d’autres professionnels des musées, des mentors et des conseillers.

Plus de 100 entreprises incubées

Depuis sa création, NEW INC a incubé plus de 100 nouvelles entreprises créatives dans des domaines aussi variés que la musique, l’art interactif, la mode, les jeux, l’architecture, le cinéma, les arts du spectacle, la conception des produits et le développement web. Ces start-ups ont reçu des subventions et des prix prestigieux, ont été reconnu dans des publications de renommée internationale. Elles ont collecté plus de 12 millions $ de financement et ont créé plus de 200 nouveaux emplois dans les industries créatives.
