Getty Museum et Apple s’associent pour donner vie aux créatures fantastiques de William Blake en réalité augmentée

Lancée à  l’occasion de l’inauguration de la nouvelle boutique d’Apple à  Londres, la nouvelle expérience immersive associe la marque à  la pomme, le Getty Museum, le duo d’artistes Tin&Ed et le producteur de hip-hop Just Blaze. Redonnant vie aux créatures fantastiques de William Blake, United Visions est disponible gratuitement sur l’App Store.

La nouvelle expérience AR rend hommage aux œuvres du poète et peintre William Blake et donne vie à  la créature peinte -figure monstrueuse et cauchemardesque- dans « Le fantôme d’une puce » The Ghost of a Flea (vers 1819-1820). Elle inclut également d’autres créatures des œuvres de Blake – y compris une tête de tigre de son poème de 1794 The Tyger  et une tête d’aigle de  «   Beatrice Addressing Dante from the Car » (1824-27).

United Visions, créée pour le Getty Museum de Californie, a été lancée sur l’App Store le 26 juillet 2022 et présentée en avant première dans le nouvel Apple Store de Londres, sur Brompton Road, comme le révèle The Art Newspaper.

Le Getty Museum détient l’un des trois exemplaires de l’œuvre de Blake Satan Exulting over Eve (1795), incluant l’un des serpents les plus mémorables de Blake. Et le musée prépare l’ouverture de son exposition Blake – d’après la rétrospective de la Tate Britain en 2019  – qui devrait ouvrir ses portes à  l’automne 2023, après que la pandémie de Covid-19 a retardé son ouverture initiale prévue pour juillet 2020.
  • Un trio d’artistes

Tin Nugyen et son partenaire artiste Ed Cutting, qui forment le groupe d’artistes et de technologues créatifs d’origine australienne basé à  New York, Tin&Ed, ont travaillé avec le producteur de hip-hop américain Just Blaze pour rendre vivantes l’imagination artistique de Blake.

Just Blaze a déclaré avoir été séduit par le projet du Getty Museum et par le sérieux avec lequel Tin&Ed abordent leur art et par son propre respect pour Blake. Et aussi parce qu’il est un « grand partisan » de la RA « l’un des futurs genres de narration ».

« Blake a inspiré tant d’artistes à  travers le monde », a déclaré Tin Nguyen lors du lancement.

La création de l’expérience United Visions et la réinterprétation AR de certaines de ses créations rappellent à  quel point Blake a été un radical pionnier et incompris de son vivant, mais considéré comme un « génie fou » par les cinéastes, écrivains et autres artistes qui se sont inspirées de ses visions.

Les visiteurs Londoniens célèbrent l’ouverture d’Apple Brompton Road avec une performance du DJ Just Blaze.

United  Visions est téléchargeable gratuitement sur l’App Store et compatible l’iPhone 11 ou version ultérieure, l’iPad Pro 12-9 pouces (3e génération) et l’iPad Prod 11 pouces (1re génération).

En 2022, le Getty Center de LA célèbre ses 25 ans avec une série d’activités et d’événements.
