Une web série coproduite par le Musée d’arts de Nantes et le collectif artistique Alambic’ raconte le Club R-26

à€ partir du 14 septembre 2021, le Musée d’arts de Nantes diffuse sa web série Bienvenue au Club R – 26. Entre documentaire et fiction, la série met un coup de projecteur sur ce lieu de fête parisien créé, dans les années 1930, par le couple Madeleine et Robert Perrier, et fréquenté par de nombreux artistes dont le musée expose aujourd’hui des œuvres.

Montmartre, 1930. Madeleine et Robert Perrier sont amoureux de jazz, de mode et de chanson. Ensemble ils créent le Club R – 26, un salon artistique réunissant artistes célèbres ou inconnus. « Réseau social » parisien jusqu’en 2012, le club comptera Le Corbusier, Django Reinhardt et Joséphine Baker parmi ses habitués. Mais aussi Sonia Delaunay, Georges Vantongerloo, Suzanne Valadon et Georges Mathieu, quatre artistes dont les œuvres sont aujourd’hui exposées au Musée d’arts de Nantes.

Sous la caméra de Gaà«tan Chataigner, quatre épisodes d’une web série ont été tournés au musée en avril 2021.

Le musée s’est associé avec des artistes du collectif artistique nantais Alambic pour imaginer et co-produire cette web série. à€ chaque numéro, à‰lodie Evezard, chargée de médiation et des publics au musée, décrypte une œuvre d’un artiste ayant fréquenté le fameux club. Toutes les œuvres sont issues des collections nantaises, mais certaines sont inédites et «sorties » spécialement des réserves.

Le comédien Norman Barreau-Gély les raconte dans l’intimité du Club R-26, au cœur de leur époque, et offre un éclairage sensible sur des géants de l’art moderne. Chaque épisode est également ponctué par une chanson écrite par de Madeleine et Robert Perrier et interprétée dans les salles du musée par Clair et Philippe Eveno. Une véritable résonance à  cette période o๠les cloisons entre le monde de l’art et celui de la musique sont abolies.
Norman Barreau-Gély, membre du collectif artistique Alambic, est à  l’origine du projet. Après avoir retrouvé de nombreuses archives de la famille Perrier et du R-26, il s’associe avec le chorégraphe David Rolland et racontent ensemble l’histoire de ce club, dressant le portrait d’une époque sous forme de thé tre documentaire.

En mars 2020, le Musée d’arts de Nantes accueille le spectacle sous une forme adaptée de concert-conférence. Norman Barreau-Gély y déroule l’histoire étonnante du Club R-26, situe les artistes dans le contexte de l’époque et présente les archives originales, alors que Clair et Philippe Eveno interprètent huit chansons issues du répertoire des Perrier. Un moment libre et joyeux au cœur de l’histoire de l’art et de la musique au 20e siècle, que le musée a souhaité faire revivre ici.
Une nocturne dédiée au club R-26 est organisée le 7 octobre 2021 au musée. Norman Barreau-Gély, Clair et Philippe Eveno seront de retour au musée à  19h15 avec la version spectacle du   Club-R26.
