Le musée Carnavalet – Histoire de Paris invite le public à célébrer ses 160 ans autour d’une programmation culturelle et festive les 2, 3 et 4 octobre 2026. Rythmé par divers événements gratuits et en accès libre, cette célébration anniversaire réaffirme la vocation du musée comme lieu de réflexion, de partage et de découverte, ouvert à toutes et tous. Le week-end festif a été co-conçu avec les membres de son Comité Jeunes Adultes.

Le 18 juillet 1866, le préfet Haussmann signe le décret ordonnant la création d’un musée dédie à l’histoire de Paris. Dans une ville en pleine transformation, après des années de travaux et de bouleversements urbains et sociaux, la nouvelle institution a pour mission de conserver et présenter les vestiges du vieux Paris mais aussi de montrer et documenter les évolutions en cours. Comprendre le passé pour mieux se projeter dans les temps à venir.

160 ans plus tard, le musée Carnavalet – Histoire de Paris, premier grand musée de ville, célèbre cet acte fondateur avec plusieurs temps forts parmi lesquels :
. le festival « Paris à la loupe » dédié à la jeune recherche sur Paris (2 octobre)
. un week-end festif imaginé par le Comité Jeunes Adultes du musée (3 et 4 octobre)
. et une grande nocturne ludique, poétique et festive organisée le samedi 3 octobre, proposant notamment un jeu immersif, un concert et des performances

« Une façon de célébrer un Paris qui se réinvente, se nourrit d’influences multiples et propose des récits divers, alimentés aussi bien par la connaissance du passé que par l’exploration du présent » explique le musée.

Imaginé par les membres du Comité Jeunes Adultes du musée, sous le marrainage de l’autrice illustratrice Blanche Sabbah pour l’année 2025-2026, ce week-end anniversaire, placé sous le thème d’un Paris onirique, invite les publics à faire entrer le rêve au musée.

Le Comité Jeunes Adultes du musée Carnavalet – Histoire de Paris est un projet de participation citoyenne où 50 jeunes de 18 à 26 ans s’engagent et prennent part aux choix d’orientation du musée.

. Grande soirée-anniversaire le samedi 3 octobre de 18h à 23h

À la fois onirique et festive, cette soirée « Rêver Paris » propose plusieurs événements au sein du musée et dans ses jardins.

Spécialement conçu par Sculpteurs de Rêves pour le musée, un jeu immersif et énigmatique intitulé « 160 ans de rêves parisiens » se déroule au cœur des collections permanentes et propose aux visiteurs de jouer avec les codes de l’histoire tout au long d’un parcours animé d’interventions surprenantes. (De 18h à 21h30, accès 23 rue Madame de Sévigné)

. Un bar à paillettes propose aux visiteurs de se faire maquiller par 2 artistes

. Les jardins du musée accueillent un concert d’inspiration jazz du groupe NODZ, des happenings artistiques, des performances Drag Queer par la troupe Kings Factory et un DJ Set signé Mancha BRS, le tout accompagné de nombreuses surprises, tout au long de la soirée. Au cours des journées des samedi 3 et dimanche 4 octobre, des propositions de médiations inédites offriront des temps de partage, de surprises pour découvrir les collections du musée autrement, libérer les imaginaires et détourner les codes.

– Visites thématiques des collections : plusieurs rendez-vous sont proposés parmi lesquels « Paris-ci par-là » pour explorer de manière active les collections du 19e siècle, « Les objets insolites du musée » pour découvrir des objets historiques qui sortent de l’ordinaire.

– Activités créatives : dans les collections, un atelier participatif en accès libre prend place le samedi aprèsmidi. Cet atelier est pensé pour laisser place à la créativité et à l’expression de l’onirisme dans les réalisations des participants.

– Visites divinatoires : Léone Metayer, comédienne et cartomancienne, invite le public à résoudre une énigme en lien avec les œuvres à travers un tirage de cartes du tarot de Marseille en déambulant dans les salles du musée.

– Des visites « Paris Queer » : à travers les collections du musée, les guides de Queer Tours France mettent en lumière les personnalités et les lieux qui ont participé à construire l’histoire LGBTQIA+ de Paris.

– Un Bingo Drag : animé par La Kings Factory, le Bingo Drag proposera une découverte ludique des pratiques qui animent les scènes LGBTQIA+ à Paris, en mettant en avant l’art drag king local. (Dimanche 4 octobre, de 12h30 à 14h, dans les jardins au 16 rue des Francs Bourgeois)

– « Carnavalet Respire » : un espace créatif et de partage animé par Sonia Dupont-Bonnamour, art-thérapeute, pour un temps calme laissant place à la méditation et à la rêverie. (Dimanche 4 octobre, de 14h à 16h, dans les collections permanentes (galerie Choiseul)

En collaboration avec le Comité d’histoire de la Ville de Paris, la Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris, la Bibliothèque Forney, la Bibliothèque de l’Hôtel de Ville et les Archives de la Ville de Paris, le musée Carnavalet Histoire de Paris lance « Paris à la loupe », le festival dédié à la jeune recherche sur Paris.

Festif, fédérateur et participatif, l’événement présentera des formes variées et originales d’échanges : tables rondes, présentation de fonds, visites d’institutions patrimoniales et présentation inédite sous le format « ma thèse en 3 sources », pour découvrir une recherche à travers les archives, documents, entretiens ou œuvres qui l’ont nourrie.

Plus de 40 jeunes chercheuses et chercheurs, de 12 champs disciplinaires différents, de 18 universités viendront échanger autour de neuf grandes thématiques : « Paris en scène », « Parisiennes au travail », « Paris, ville écologique ? », « Paris, crime et surveillance », « Paris précaire, habiterabriter », « Le Grand Paris en ses quartiers », « Paris, créateurs », « Paris et ses commerces » et « Paris multiple ».

La première édition de ce festival, qui se tiendra tous les deux ans, se déroulera au musée Carnavalet et dans plusieurs institutions patrimoniales parisiennes situées dans le Marais.

Cinq ans après sa rénovation, le musée ouvre un nouvel espace pour mieux mettre à disposition du public ses collections et ses ressources.

Dans des salles rénovées par l’Agence NC, Nathalie Criniere, au rez-de-chaussée
de l’hôtel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau, le Centre permettra de consulter la documentation, la bibliothèque et les archives de l’institution. Il sera surtout le premier centre de ressources permettant l’étude des collections conservées en réserves.

« Le Centre entend ainsi favoriser la connaissance des collections d’arts graphiques, de
photographies, de numismatiques et des objets d’histoire et de mémoire, encourager et promouvoir la recherche sur Paris et favoriser les rencontres autour des œuvres du musée » explique Paris Musées.

. 1660 : L’hôtel est complété par le célèbre architecte François Mansart, qui surélève le porche de la façade sur l’actuelle rue de Sévigné
. 1677 – 1696 : Madame de Sévigné et sa famille résident dans l’hôtel
. 1688 : Pierre Bullet, architecte du Roi et de la Ville, construit l’hôtel Le Peletier Saint-Fargeau
. 1866 : L’hôtel Carnavalet est acquis par la Ville de Paris
. 1880 : Le musée Carnavalet ouvre ses portes au public
. 1989 : L’hôtel Le Peletier Saint-Fargeau est annexé au musée
. 2016 : Fermeture du musée et déménagement complet des collections
. Mi-2017 : Début du chantier de rénovation
. 29 mai 2021 : Réouverture du musée
. Octobre 2026 : Le musée fête ses 160 ans
