A partir de l’automne 2018, le musée de l’Orangerie mise sur l’art contemporain et la danse

Fort du succès de son exposition de printemps consacré à Monet et l’abstraction US et dans l’objectif de diversifier ses publics, le musée de l’Orangerie lance à l’automne 2018 une programmation culturelle laissant une place plus grande à l’art contemporain et la danse.

Une nouvelle ligne de programmation contemporaine

La dernière exposition du musée de l’Orangerie, Nymphéas. L’abstraction américaine et le dernier Monet, a rencontré un vif succès avec 400 291 visiteurs. L’institution du jardin des tuileries entend bien capitaliser sur cette réussite et investir le champ de l’art contemporain.

Dès l’automne 2018, deux salles, au niveau des collections permanentes, vont être dévolues à de nouvelles présentations d’oeuvres qui permettront de revivifier la collection et de lancer une programmation spécifique en art moderne et contemporain.

La salle documentaire, réinsérée dans le circuit de visite des collections permanentes sera dédiée à des focus sur des thèmes ou des oeuvres en rapport avec la collection, mêlant oeuvres peintes, sculptées ou graphiques et archives papier, sonores ou filmiques.

Le premier focus portera sur l’amitié entre Monet et Clemenceau et sera présenté à partir du 12 novembre 2018 dans le cadre de l’année Clemenceau et de la Mission pour le Centenaire de la Grande Guerre.

Contrepoints contemporains

La salle contemporaine est positionnée hors du parcours des collections. Sa forme particulière en entonnoir, sa superficie d’environ 50 mètres carrés et sa grande hauteur de plafond la rendent bien adaptée à la présentation d’une oeuvre ou d’un ensemble.

C’est là que sera développée une série de contrepoints contemporains avec le chef-d’oeuvre du lieu, les Nymphéas. Ainsi seront choisies des oeuvres qui s’inscrivent dans une large inspiration issue de cette installation immersive, paysagère, florale ou colorée, végétale ou organique, contemplative ou spirituelle, légère ou mélancolique voire inquiétante. Toutes les techniques sont envisageables – peinture, photographie, sculpture, vidéo, installations €¦

Le musée de l’Orangerie ouvre cet automne sa nouvelle salle Contrepoint contemporain avec une installation de l’artiste américain Richard Jackson €“ Wall painting (peinture acrylique, bois et toiles).Au début des années 1960, au moment oà¹ l’expressionnisme abstrait s’affirme comme le mouvement artistique majeur des à‰tats-Unis, Richard Jackson décide d’expérimenter différentes façons d’étendre le champ de la peinture, de la pousser en dehors de ses cadres, styles ou conventions. à€ partir de 1969, Jackson réalise des peintures murales oà¹ des toiles grossièrement enduites de peinture se substituent aux pinceaux. Il initie ainsi une série inventive d’inversions et de dissimulations ayant pour but de mettre à mal les conventions techniques et stylistiques de la peinture.

Toile, peinture, espace et temps sont redistribués, souvent simultanément, en une seule oeuvre. Fasciné par les Nymphéas de l’Orangerie, Richard Jackson propose une oeuvre en résonance oà¹ couleur, gestualité, organicité offrent une relecture joyeuse et décalée du dernier oeuvre de Monet.

Il affirme : « Je ne considère pas mon travail comme une critique de la peinture, mais comme une vue optimiste de ce qu’elle pourra être » (Richard Jackson).

Danse dans les Nymphéas

Après un Event de Merce Cunningham à l’occasion de l’exposition L’abstraction américaine et le dernier Monet, la danse s’invite dans les salles des Nymphéas : dès octobre 2018, différentes générations de chorégraphes, de danseurs et de danseuses donneront rendez-vous au public avec des pièces et formats flexibles autour du répertoire moderne et contemporain, faisant de chaque soirée un événement unique !

Les Nymphéas version street-art

En avril 2018, les résidents du Centre d’hébergement d’urgence Coustou d’Emmaà¼s Solidarité à Paris ont participé à une rencontre unique avec Les Nymphéas de Claude Monet, présentés au musée de l’Orangerie.à€ l’occasion de deux visites dans le musée, ils ont été sensibilisés à ce chef-d’œuvre impressionniste puis ont réalisé une fresque dans la cour de la structure sous la direction du street-artiste Babs.
