L’Institut d’art contemporain de Miami ICA lance sa propre plateforme NFT

Après avoir reçu un don pour acquérir un NFT en 2021, l’Institut d’art contemporain de Miami (ICA Miami) plonge davantage dans le monde des actifs numériques avec le lancement de sa plateforme NFT (jeton non fongible). Celle-ci a été lancée le 9 avril 2022, à  l’occasion du gala annuel du musée.

La plate- forme NFT d’ICA Miami, la première lancée par un musée américain, en partenariat avec  Palm NFT Studio  et  LiveArtX, a présenté sa première vente NFT avec trois œuvres de l’artiste Cory Van Lew, vendues aux enchères sous forme physique et numérique.

La sortie de la plateforme a coà¯ncidé avec le gala annuel de collecte de fonds du musée, The 365 Party, qui a permis de recueillir plus de 1,5 million de dollars. Les acheteurs pouvaient placer leurs offres via le site Web en espèces ou en Ethereum, les bénéfices soutenant la programmation artistique gratuite et la mission éducative du musée.

La 365 Party a notamment rendu hommage à  Jorge Gonzalez, vice-président et PDG de la City National Bank of Florida, qui a défendu le programme d’admission gratuite d’ICA Miami. Il est administrateur de l’Institute of Contemporary Art de Miami depuis la fondation du musée en 2014.

« Le soutien soutenu de la City National Bank à  ICA Miami est le reflet du leadership de Jorge et de la conviction que notre communauté artistique est essentielle à  l’avenir de Miami », a déclaré Alex Gartenfeld, directeur artistique de l’Institut d’art contemporain de Miami.  « Avec l’aide de CNB, ICA Miami a accueilli gratuitement 600 000 personnes à  travers nos portes, dont beaucoup n’auraient autrement pas eu l’occasion de s’engager dans l’art contemporain dans un cadre muséal. »

En plus des trois œuvres d’art, un quatrième couple NFT/peinture a également rejoint la collection permanente du musée gr ce à  Cory Van Lew.  

Le nouveau travail s’appuie sur une série de peintures et de NFT présentant des motifs liés à  la pandémie de Van Lew.  Son travail a été inspiré par l’expérience collective en cours de la pandémie, qui mettait en vedette des personnages anonymes en combinaisons de matières dangereuses avec leurs visages obscurcis par des masques.
