Le Smithsonian American Art Museum s’est associé au National Museum of African History and Culture pour développer Oh Freedom ! une nouvelle plateforme en ligne unique pour étudier, comprendre et analyser les droits civiques afro-americains à  travers l’art. A Boston, le Musée des Beaux Arts de la ville a lancé son premier catalogue en ligne présentant les peintures phares des Amériques. Des modules pédagogiques, enrichis et surtout accessibles pour tous en ligne.

Oh Freedom !

Cette nouvelle plateforme en ligne offre aux enseignants une introduction sur la campagne pour les droits civiques à  travers le prisme des collections du Smithonian. Créant une connexion entre l’art et l’histoire, ce site fournit également de nouveaux outils aux étudiants qui veulent s’informer sur la lutte pour les droits civiques.

Une frise interactive, explore History in Art,  associe près de 50 oeuvres avec la biographies des artistes, des enregistrements musicaux ou encore des ressources du Smithsonian telle que des objets historiques des collections. Un glossaire aide également les internautes à  contextualiser les histoires révélées par chaque oeuvre. Ce site permet également aux enseignants de télécharger des leçons mais aussi de partager leurs préparations et activités. Cet échange inter-professionnel met en avant les méthodes et travaux particuliers pour intéresser les étudiants.

Premier catalogue en ligne : Paintings of the Americas

Le Museum of Fine Arts de Boston a lancé, juste à  temps pour le President’s Day, son premier catalogue en ligne qui regroupe les peintures iconiques des Amériques du musée. Cette publication numérique et gratuite regroupe une sélection de plus de 400 peintures issues des collections du musée du 17è au 20è siècle.

L’e-catalogue a été produit pour compléter la médiation du musée. Avec une navigation simple et graphique, les internautes peuvent rapidement avoir accès à  un panel d’informations. Le catalogue dépeint l’histoire à  travers une exploration chronologique de différentes oeuvres et masterpieces provenant du nord, centre ou sud des Amériques.

Le MFA continue ainsi d’innover. En 2000, le Museum of Fine Art de Boston était l’une des premières institutions a mettre en ligne ses collections. Aujourd’hui, plus de 450 000 oeuvres peuvent être consultées par les internautes ! Avec ce nouveau e-catalogue, lisible également sur tablettes et iPad, les internautes peuvent en apprendre d’avantage en naviagant par chapitre, vidéos, artistes, favoris ou interviews des conservateurs.
